![]() I would highly recommend the UCO Candlelier to anyone who was looking for a new lantern and wanted something that was a little different than the norm. I bought it on Amazon and got FREE shipping with my membership. The functionality of the Candlelier makes it a great lantern to take on a short trip. You still have to get matches or a lighter to get this thing on, but that was definitely still worth it to me. Now, is this lantern more convenient than a battery-powered one? No. It’s not going to outdo a stove, but it could do in a pinch to keep foods warm. I haven’t tried this yet, but it certainly gets hot enough on the surface to try it. It’s so functional and easy to use.Īnother neat trick with this lantern is that it has a metal plate at the top that serves as a hot surface for boiling small cups of water. You could easily use this lantern 3 or 4 weekends without buying new candles. I’ve read the candles burn for approximately 8 hours, so using them sporadically over the course of a weekend barely burns them down at all. The way it works is that within the easily detachable base are 3 spring-loaded candles. The one I picked up is the 3-candle version, which provided plenty of light for a one-man campout. The Candlelier is a candle lantern, and is a great alternative to propane, gasoline, or battery-powered lanterns. I didn’t take any other lanterns with me, just a couple of flashlights and this Candlelier. A few weeks later, I took it out on a weekend trip to see how it would do. Candle: UCO 9-hour Paraffin or Citronella Candles, or 12-hour Beeswax Candles. ![]() I had recently broken my regular lantern, and was in the market for a new one, so he convinced me to pick one of these up. The thing he was most excited about was the Candlelier, of which he had about 3 or 4. He was showing me all of his camping gear that he had acquired over the last few years. While visiting my brother-in-law a few weeks ago, I was introduced to UCO’s Candlelier.
